The purpose of this sight is to allow you an understanding of how the Bennington and Tescott High School art classes progress from foundational techniques to advanced art theory. This sight can also be used to find course descriptions or projects that the art department is currently working on, and will allow you to learn a little about your art teacher.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
COURSE TITLE: Art 1
Duration: One Semester
Pre-Requisite: None
Grade: 9 - 12
Credit: 1/2
Fee: Dependent upon projects and materials
This is an introduction to art with the emphasis on basic art skills in the areas of drawing, painting, jewelry, graphics, and sculpture. The class will focus on the discipline-based art stages of art production, and art history.
COURSE TITLE: Art II
Duration: One Semester
Pre-Requisite: Art 1
Grade: 10 - 12
Credit: 1/2
Fee: Dependent upon projects and materials
Art II is an advanced art class using all mediums. It focuses on the discipline based art education stages of art production, art history, evaluation, and aesthetics.
COURSE TITLE: Art III / Graphic Design
Duration: One Semester
Pre-Requisite: Art II
Grade: 11 - 12
Credit: 1/2
Fee: Dependent upon projects and materials
Art III is an advanced art course dealing primarily with computer graphics and advanced design techniques. Students will need the knowledge obtained in Art I and Art II to succeed in this class.
COURSE TITLE: Art Independent Study
Duration: One Semester
Pre-Requisite: Art II and with the permission of the instructor and principal
Grade: 11 - 12
Credit: 1/2
Fee: Dependent upon projects and materials
This class is a highly advanced class in which self motivation is the key to success. The student will pick two mediums to study in depth for a semester. They will study the history and techniques associated with that medium.
Our art program is based on the 4 primary areas of Art Production, Art Criticism, Art History, and Aesthetics.
